Road Trips |
|
 |
I am an avid fan of
long long drives. They have always been so refreshing to me.
All my road trips are associated with wonderful
memories, may be even a touch of romanticism. |
|
To this day, the
farthest I have driven alone is 800 miles on a trip
to Montreal. I plan to cover even longer distances
in future. |

Miscellaneous |
|
As you will notice from
the above links, I am a strong supporter of Linux
and any other open source software project. I love
the slick interface of the Mac OsX so much, that I
sometimes try to make my Windows desktop look like a
Mac. Here is a
screenshot. If you are interested, consult this
page for the tricks. |

Photography |

I have been interested in cameras for quite a long time.
However, only in the last few years, I could lay my hands on
a decent SLR. |
|
|
|
My equipments include a Nikon N80
(picture), three lenses, 28-80G, 70-300G, 50/1.8 and a cheap Walmart
tripod. I am quite happy with my gear and feel that anybody with a
limited budget and a good spirit should get well started with these
things. I have a portfolio at
photo.net. Additionally, the gallery
page contains a few selected images. |

Ray Tracing |
|
 |
|
For those,
who are not familiar, ray tracing denotes the art of
creating realistic images on the computer. |

|
The objects in the scene can be modeled
using standard 3D graphics. Then the intensities of light at
different parts of the scene are calculated using the laws of
optics. Together, they can create awesome near-photographic images
There are many softwares which can help you create such images. Some
of the examples are Rhino3D ($900, commercial) and
PovRay ($0, open source). The
last one is for poor graduate students. Please check out my rendered
aircraft
images using PovRay. |
